Jackson County Board of Education Votes to "Open the Position of Superintendent" as of July 01st

The Jackson County Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting last night (March 19, 2024). After a motion made by Board member Debbie Nicholson the board voted by a 3-2 margin that as of July 01st, 2024 to open the position of Superintendent. This is the last year of Superintendent Mike Smith's current contract which expires on June 30th, 2024. Instead of renewing Superintendent Smith's contract for another term the Board voted to open the position up to new applicants. The full details will be in next week's Jackson County Sun.
