Appalachian Imagination: My Take on Snakes (Plus Some Wild and Domestic Animals!)

May 02, 2024

My take on snakes plus some true stories of encounters that I've had with animals, wild and domestic. Some may seem a little far fetched but I promise they are true. Snakes get a bad rap. Even poisonous snakes (locally that is only the Copperhead and Rattlesnake) have their place. If they are near a home they are a real danger and must be dealt with. However, in the wild, removed from people or pets, they should be left alone. That being said, most snakes are non-venomous and should be left alone. If they are near a home, at most they should be relocated.

You will hear of my short term pet possum, a snapping turtle I had for a pet, the great skunk incident and lots more.
