JCHS Generals Win Huge Regular Season Game: Guarantee to Play 49th Distrct Championship & 13th Regional Tournament

 On Tuesday, April 22, the Jackson County Generals hosted the Model Patriots of Richmond. Getting the start for the Generals on the mound was Freshman Jamison Roark. Jami pitched 5 innings giving up only 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 2 batters in route to picking up his second win of the year in a 10-1 decision. His twin brother, Jonathon came on in relief pitching two perfect innings picking up his first save of the season and striking out 5 of the 6 batters he faced. At the plate the Generals were led by Cayden Farmer, Ashton, and Braxton Clemons who each had 2 hits. Picking up a hit each in the game were also Elijah Thomas, Jackson Lakes, Lucas Elam, Tydus Summers, and Michael Sparks. This win pushed the Generals record for the season 16-6 on the year. 
 
Thursday April 24, the Leslie County Eagles came to visit. Starting on the mound that game was Ashton Clemons. Ashton gave up 5 hits and 5 ER in 3 IP while striking out 4.. Elijah Thomas followed picking up the 15-9 win going 4 innings and giving up 3 ER while striking out 4 of his own as well. At the plate the Generals were led by Luke Elam who went 4-5 with two doubles and 3 RBI. Tydus Summers had 2 hits including a 3 run HR and a total of 4 RBI. Also collecting two hits a piece were Ashton Clemons and Elijah Thomas. With one hit each you had Braxton Clemons, Davon Seals, and Jamison Roark. This win pushed the team's record to 
17-6. 

 On Monday April 28, the Generals played host to the North Laurel Jaguars in the final district seed game of the year. The winner of this game would gain the 1 seed in district play and gain an automatic bye into the District Championship game and therefore also gaining an automatic spot into the Regional Tournament at the end of the season. Cayden Farmer got the start on the mound for the Generals pitching 5 innings, giving up 6 hits, while striking out 9 hitters. After falling behind early by giving up a run in the top of the second and a run in the top of the third, the Generals countered with two in the bottom of the 3rd. Michael Sparks connected on a one-out double to left and was followed by a single by Ashton Clemons to left to drive in Sparks. Ashton would advance to third on an errant throw to the plate. Luke Elam followed with a run-scoring single to right field to tie the game at 2 a piece. North Laurel responded with a homerun in the top of the 4th to take the 3-2 lead. It would stay that way until the bottom of the 5th. Ashton Clemons led the inning off with a base hit to center. Luke Elam was then hit by a pitch. Cayden Farmer then followed with a base hit of his own to right field, scoring Ashton Clemons and tying the game. The next hitter, Tydus Summers followed with a base hit to right field, scoring Elam to give the Generals the 4-3 lead. The Jaguars responded by scoring 1 in the top of the 6th tying the game at 4. Ashton Clemons would take the mound in the 6th inheriting two runners. The score remained deadlocked at 4 into the bottom of the 11th inning. Ashton Clemons started the inning with an infield hit to the second baseman. Luke Elam was intentionally walked for the second time of the night. Two batters later, Tydus Summers was hit by a pitch to load the bases with only one out. Elijah Thomas drew a full-count walk-off walk to win the game scoring Clemons from 3rd, giving the team the 5-4 extra inning win. On the bump, Ashton Clemons picked up the win pitching 6 innings, giving up no runs, while striking out 5. At the plate, Ashton went a perfect 4-4 with a stolen base. Luke Elam finished the game 1-2 with 3 walks, and a HBP. Finishing the game with 1 hit and 1 RBI each was Cayden Farmer and Elijah Thomas. Michael Sparks and Davon Seals each finished with a base knock as well.
 The Generals go on the road to face North Laurel on Tuesday, April 29. They return home for action on Thursday, May 1st against the Barbourville Tigers, and then will travel to Williamsburg on Friday, May 2nd to close out the week.
