Last year the Fiscal Court was approved and awarded a Cybersecurity Grant through the office of Homeland Security. This grant was a multicounty grant that we applied for along with Madison County Fiscal Court. Both Fiscal Courts are working together to enhance the security of our documents as well as important records. We have been in the process of installing a new computer system that this grant funded. The main computer and server is in Madison County. We have devices here that our computers are connected to that communicate with the main computer and store as well as backup everything we put in our systems. This will make document retrieval easier for audit purposes as well as grant applications, employee records, fiscal court documents and the list goes on.

Cybersecurity in today's world is of utmost importance, especially with a local government. Online cyber thieves as well as scammers are an ever evolving threat that we need to stay ahead of if at all possible.

I was a recent victim of an online scam. Someone hacked my Facebook page and completely shut down my account. I recently opened a new page and it was shut down within a week's time. Someone really doesn't want me posting anything on Facebook or having an account. I went through the protocol of changing my password, using a different email, even contacting Facebook administrators directly and still can not get my page back or a new one established. This is just one example of how Cybersecurity is important in our world today.

Have a blessed week
