23 Year Old McKee Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

A 23-year-old McKee man died last Thursday (July 02, 2026) morning after reportedly his motorcycle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a passenger car on Industrial Boulevard in Laurel County.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Joshua Burkhart. The crash occurred at around 7:30 a.m. on Industrial Boulevard, located off West Hal Rogers Parkway.

Investigators said Burkhart was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Industrial Boulevard when it crossed the center line and struck a Chrysler 300 head-on.

Burkhart was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the other involved vehicle was reportedly uninjured.

Three crash reconstructionists with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office are leading the investigation.

According to his obituary, Joshua “Cotton Top” Burkhart, will be remembered as a hardworking, kindhearted man whose greatest joy came from spending time with the people he loved.

His generous spirit, infectious smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family meant everything to Cotton. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with his loved ones, especially his nephews, who held a special place in his heart. He shared a deep and loving relationship with his girlfriend, Hannah, and cherished the life they were building together.

Cotton had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and cared for, never meeting a stranger and treating others with kindness, compassion, and respect.

Joshua Burkhart was buried at the Cotton Top Family Cemetery in Tyner, Kentucky.
