On October 15, 2025, Gary Anderson, 39, of London, KY was found guilty by a jury of the offense of sexual abuse, 1st degree. Earlier, Anderson had appeared before Judge Oscar Gayle House in Circuit Court for a competency hearing. The court concluded that Anderson was competent to stand trial, so the case proceeded.
In Kentucky, being ruled competent to stand trial means a defendant is able to understand the charges and legal proceedings against them, and they have the ability to assist their lawyer in preparing a defense. Essentially, they have a "reasonable degree of rational understanding". This determination is crucial because a defendant cannot be tried for a crime if they are not competent.
A Grand Jury returned an indictment (24-CR-00002) against Anderson on January 02, 2024. Anderson was arraigned in the case in February 2024.
The indictment listed a single charge: Sexual Abuse, First Degree (KRS.510.110 (1AB). The indictment states that on or about November 19, 2023 in Jackson County, KY Anderson committed the offense of sexual abuse, 1st degree by subjecting a person less than 12 years of age to sexual abuse when he touched her inappropriately with his hand over her underwear. (The name of the alleged victim is being withheld to protect the minor’s identity).
KSP Trooper G. Reed arrested Anderson on January 25, 2024.
Anderson appeared before Judge Oscar Gayle House in Circuit Court on May 05, 2026, for sentencing. It was determined by the court through a presentencing investigation (PSI) that Anderson was in need of correctional treatment that could be provided most effectively by Anderson’s commitment to a correctional institution. Anderson signed to confirm his agreement with the factual content of the PSI. Judge House sentenced Anderson to imprisonment for a maximum term of three (3) years.
