Betty Jean (Bridges) Gross was born January 25, 1941, in Capuchin, Tennessee and departed this life on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Sextons Creek, at the age of 85. She was the daughter of the late Eckley & Mary Bridges.
Betty is survived by her two children, Terry (Shirley) Gross of Erlanger, KY and Saundra (Jim) McQueen of Owsley County, KY. She is also survived by one sister, Sharon Blankenship of Elk Valley, Tennessee. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Dakota (Saylor) McQueen and Kelsey (Jay) Miller. Survived by ten great-grandchildren, Cason, Kali, Creed & Zada McQueen, Trinity Gross, Everett Miller, Daxton, Dylanne, Dakota and Drew McWhorter.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James D. Gross; a grandson, Cody James McQueen; by her brothers, Bill, Jack, Scott, Leon and by her sister, Maxine Day.
Betty was a member of the Birch Lick Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Hays and Bro. David Reed officiating. Burial to follow in the Gross Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jerry Gross, Jim McQueen, Dakota McQueen, Cason McQueen, Creed McQueen, Jay Miller and Lige King.
