Timothy Allen Rhoades, 62, of McKee, KY, appeared in District Court before Judge Henria Bailey-Lewis on November 17, 2025, for a preliminary hearing in Case #25-F-00126.
Sheriff Daniel Isaacs arrested Rhoades on October 31, 2025, after receiving a complaint of domestic violence and a report of a physical altercation at a residence located on Highway 1955 in the northern part of Jackson County.
Upon arrival at the residence, Sheriff Isaacs spoke with Mr. Rhoades, and he stated that he and his wife were arguing over his debit card and that she would not give it to him. According to Uniform Citation #EL07455, Rhoades told Sheriff Isaacs that he was standing directly in front of his wife with his left arm raised when his wife grabbed his arm. At that time, Rhoades said he shoved her onto the bed and really could not remember exactly what happened.
Shortly after Sheriff Isaacs arrived, Debra Rhoades exited a bedroom. While speaking to her, Sheriff Isaacs noted a cut in the corner of her right eye, red marks on each side of her neck, and what appeared to be bruising above her left eye.
Debra stated that her husband, Timothy, came into the bedroom asking for a debit card, and she refused to give it to him because he would lose it. According to Debra, at this time, Timothy jumped on top of her and began hitting her. He allegedly placed both hands around her neck, squeezing until she became lightheaded. Debra stated that during this time, she was able to scream out for help, hoping her roommate would hear. Debra claimed that Timothy removed one hand from her neck and placed it over her mouth, and she began trying to bite him. She stated that he then took a sheet and placed it over her entire face.
Jackson County EMS responded to the scene and evaluated Debra but she refused transport to a medical facility. EMS also evaluated Timothy and he also refused transport to a medical facility. Sheriff Isaacs reported that he did not observe any obvious injuries to Timothy.
Mr. Rhoades was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Detention Center where he was booked and charged with assault, 4th degree (domestic violence) minor injury, and strangulation, 1st degree (domestic violence related).
At the preliminary hearing on Monday, Rhoades waived the need for the hearing and stipulated that probable cause was evident. The case was subsequently bound over to the grand jury for consideration. Judge Bailey-Lewis ruled that bail credit was denied, Rhoades represented a danger to himself or others, and was a flight risk.
Rhoades was recognized to appear in Circuit Court on January 06, 2026 to answer any potential indictment coming forth from the Grand Jury.
As in all cases at this stage of adjudication, the charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until provided due process and determined to be guilty by the court.
