Justin Madden
1st Class Line Technician
Justin Madden is a Jackson County native who has lived and worked in the area his entire life. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a farmer and continuing his family’s tradition of raising cattle and tobacco. As he grew older, however, he began looking for more stable opportunities as the tobacco and cattle industries became less predictable.
After working his way up through the ranks at Pike Electric and Davis H. Elliot, Madden joined Jackson Energy in 2020 as a 1st Class Line Technician in the co-op’s McKee District. Today, Justin works in the metering and maintenance department, where he is responsible for the upkeep and communication of meters and related equipment. While keeping up with ever-evolving, state-of-the-art technology can be one of the more challenging parts of his role, Madden enjoys the variety his job offers—especially troubleshooting issues as they arise and being involved in the building and construction side of the utility industry.
For Madden, the most rewarding part of working at Jackson Energy is serving the co-op’s members and making a positive impact in their lives. He understands the dedication it takes to be a first responder and the sacrifices that often come with time spent away from family. From lending a hand in community service projects to working in the toughest conditions to restore power, Madden is always willing to go the extra mile. Knowing he can restore service for members and help keep our communities safe is what brings him the most satisfaction in his work.
Madden’s advice to the next generation is simple: keep the faith, stay true to your values, and keep pushing forward – no matter what obstacle you face.
Justin and his wife, Shanta, have been married for 21 years and have two children, Aubree and Jake. When Justin is not working at Jackson Energy, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his family.
