I would like to share a loving tribute in memory of Earl D. Slone, who passed away on August 25, 2026.
Earl was a beloved father, grandfather, and best friend. He was born June 26, 1959, to the late Gladys K. King of Berea and John Shade Slone of Sand Gap.
He is survived by his daughter, Sonya Sparks (Phillip Sparks) of McKee, Kentucky, and his grandchildren: Dalynn Sparks, Micheal Sparks, Chloe Sparks, Caitlin Mills (Corey Mills) of Corbin, and Brianna Sparks of Corbin.
In loving memory of Earl D. Slone, a beloved father, grandfather, and best friend. Earl was a man whose love for his family knew no bounds. His presence brought comfort, love, and laughter to everyone who knew him. He was a devoted father who loved his family with his whole heart. To his grandchildren, he was not only a grandfather but also a best friend, storyteller, teacher, and someone who made countless memories that will be treasured forever.
He found some of his greatest happiness in the simple things in life—being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and spending time with the people he loved most. Daddy always taught his family the importance of working hard, loving deeply, and simply enjoying life. His values, kindness and love will live on through his daughter, grandchildren and all those that were blessed to call him Dad, Papaw, family and friend!
Graveside services for Earl will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Slone Cemetery, with Darren Slone speaking. Pallbearers: Michael, Phillip & Doyle Wayne Sparks, Lonnie Slone, Mason McDaniel, Kolben Vickers, Riley Anglin, Brayden Dezarn and Kendall Peters.
Lakes Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
