Emma Thurston was born December 2, 1938, in Clay County and departed this life Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at her residence at the age of 86. She was the daughter of the late Clarence & Liza Jane (Pennington) Bowman.
Emma is survived by two daughters, Shiri Wilson of Tyner and Karen (Larry) Walden of London and by a step-daughter, Janet (Gary) Thurston of Atlanta, Ga. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Emma was also preceded in death by her grandson Robert William Baker; by a brother, Freddie Bowman; step-son, Donald Scott Thurston; by the father of her children, William E. Wilson and by her second husband James M. Thurston.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 Friday, October 10, 2025, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Lucian Estridge officiating. Burial to follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com
