The Jackson County UNITE Coalition proudly celebrated Red Ribbon Week by hosting a countywide Poster Contest focused on the theme “Drug Prevention: My Commitment to Stay Drug Free.” This creative initiative encouraged local youth to express their personal commitment to a drug-free lifestyle through art and messaging.
All 5th grade students across Jackson County’s elementary schools were invited to participate in the contest, demonstrating the Coalition’s continued partnership with schools to promote prevention education and awareness.
After careful review, three outstanding students were selected as this year’s winners:
Jerome “Coy” Sumalinog – Tyner Elementary
Bethany Hurt – Sand Gap Elementary
Teri Robinson – McKee Elementary
Each winner received a recognition award and a pair of Apple AirPods as a token of appreciation for their creativity, dedication, and positive message promoting a drug-free community.
The Jackson County UNITE Coalition extends its sincere appreciation to Tyner Elementary, Sand Gap Elementary, and McKee Elementary for their enthusiastic participation. A special thank-you also goes to the Jackson County Middle School UNITE Club, whose members volunteered their time to judge and select the winning posters. The Jackson County UNITE Coalition remains committed to supporting local schools and empowering youth to make healthy, drug-free choices that strengthen the future of our community.
