The Jackson County Wagon and Saddle Club held their annual Spring Funshow on
May 9th. This event brings several visitors to the county and this year was no exception.
The saddle club was founded on July 15th, 2015, and has held this show each May with
improvements and changes, but continues to be a great time for everyone.
This show offers classes from lead line to Championships, listing classes for ages 8 and under, to 55 and
over. The year was no exception to the number of horses, exhibitors and spectators
coming from several counties throughout the state. The park was filled with fun and
laughter throughout the night, from kids showing their ponies to adults riding double and
trying to suck a bottle dry the fastest, as well as some very nice horses with mane and tail
flowing.
The weekend started off on a negative note. On Friday, the park manager Cody
Roberts, went to the Gray Hawk Park to make sure it was ready for the show. He found
that someone had stolen all the wiring from the light poles around the arena. After many
calls and contacts, a group of men came out Saturday and volunteered their time to get the
park back to show readiness.
These men saved our show: Jason Isaacs, Garvin Baker, Danny Todd, Ovie Adkins, Richard Baker, Seth Isaacs,
Ethan Isaacs, Joe Durham and Roy Brumwell. Special thank to each of them.
Also thank you to any club member that worked during the show, you make it happen and keep the show running smoothly. Thank you to Jason Bowman for once again doing the announcing and supplying the music for
the show, he does an outstanding job and has been our announcer since the beginning.
Concessions were provided by Bowman’s Baby Butt BBQ and well as vendors with an
array of items for sale.
We would also like to thank all the sponsors that help make this a very successful
horse show. Please consider a vote for the candidate of your choice, and frequent the
businesses when you can.

more about them on the Facebook page, Jackson County Wagon and Saddle Club.
We also want to acknowledge the passing of a club and Jackson Co supporter and
advocate, Carmen “Leah” Abner. She was a great support and promoter of all things
positive in this county. She always wanted to help promote the things that the JCWSC
was involved in. She will certainly be missed by many.
Here’s looking forward to another great benefit show for the Jackson Co Cancer
Fund on Sept 12th, mark your calendars and many memorable trail rides this summer.
