Sheriff Isaacs reported that a joint effort between the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police led to the arrest of Nettie Steele of McKee, KY, and Dustin Steele of McKee, KY, and their lodging on outstanding warrants in addition to other charges.

According to Sheriff Isaac’s report, the arrests occurred at the Sand Gap Family Dollar Store along US 421 North approximately 7 miles north of McKee following a call for service alleging possible suspicious behavior on account of a female.

Units responded to the area and began investigating. Throughout the course of this investigation both Nettie and Dustin were found to have active warrants for their arrest.

In an attempt to take Dustin into custody and conduct a search of his person, Deputy Baldwin was met with resistance after observing a small clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance on Dustin’s person. A short foot pursuit took place where Dustin was ultimately apprehended and taken into custody.

Nettie Steele was found to be manifestly under the influence of a controlled substance and was also taken into custody.

Nettie Steele was transported to and lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center on her outstanding warrant charging Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree in addition to the charge of: Public Intoxication (controlled substance.)

Dustin Steele was transported to and lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center on his outstanding warrant of arrest charging Failure to Appear in addition to the charges of: Fleeing or Evading Police 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Operations, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Deputy Baldwin was assisted at the scene by Kentucky State Police Post 7 Troopers Tanner Johnson and Doug Holt.

Dustin and Nettie Steele both entered pleas of not guilty to all charges during their arraignments on Monday. Preliminary hearings were scheduled for March 09, 2026.

Both remain in custody at the Jackson County Detention Center. Dustin Steele is being held with a $10,000 cash bond. Nettie Steele is being held under a $5,000 cash bond.

As in all cases at this stage of adjudication the charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until provided due process and determined to be guilty by the court.
