Judge Gabbard Provides Update on Fairgrounds Project

Posted

The Jackson County, Kentucky, Fairgrounds Project is moving along well.

Praxel is the Contractor who was awarded the first phase of the project which consists of clearing and earth work.

Nesbitt Engineering is overseeing the project and recommending necessary change orders for the work to the Fiscal Court as the project proceeds.

So far, we have spent $1,180,536.11 of the $4,000,000 we received to construct the Fairgrounds.

Why is this an important project for Jackson County? This project is more than just fields and facilities—it’s about creating a gathering place for Jackson County. A place for families to play, athletes to compete, musicians to perform, and neighbors to celebrate together. It’s about investing in the health, pride, and future of our community.

To ensure the project reflects the voices of the entire county, the Jackson County Fiscal Court created and appointed a special committee tasked with meeting regularly and providing recommendations regarding the details of the proposed Jackson County Park / Fairgrounds Project.

Members were chosen to represent a wide range of community interests, including agriculture, recreation, tourism, business, and civic engagement. The committee members are as follows:
Brian Murray – JC Fair Board, Kathy Spurlock – JC Off-Roaders, Erik Hubbard – Backroads of Appalachia, Shane Gabbard – JC Fiscal Court, Greg Lakes – JC Tourism, Ashley Wagers – JC Public Library, Keith Gabbard – Kiwanis, Rodney Chrisman – JC Community Foundation, Devonna Hisel – JC Saddle Club, Judy Schmitt – JC Grant Writers and Tim Truett – State Representative

I will do my best to keep the community informed as we move along in this very important project in Jackson County

Have a blessed week.
