London Woman Arrested for Knowingly Exploiting an Adult While Serving as Caretaker

Jackson County Sheriff Daniel Isaacs reported to the public that on Friday April 24th, 2026 at approximately 8:23pm Jackson County Deputy Sheriff Andrew Brewer arrested Christine Short, 54, of London, KY.

The arrest occurred along Chestnut Flat Road approximately 10 miles north of McKee following a call for service alleging that Short, while acting as a caregiver for an elderly individual in a home, had been captured on camera stealing money from the home.

Deputy Brewer responded to the residence with the homeowner and located Short. Throughout investigation it was determined that Short had taken and concealed approximately $500-$600 dollars worth of loose change and other currency within her purse throughout the course of her acting within a caretaking role.

Christine Short was transported to and lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center on the charge of: Knowingly Exploit Adult by Person over $300.

Short appeared before Judge Allen B. Roberts on April 27th, 2026 in District Court for arraignment in Case # 26-F-00047.

At the arraignment Short entered a guilty plea to the amended charge of theft by unlawful taking < $1,000. Judge Roberts sentenced Short to 365 days in jail counting time served of 4 days. The balance of the jail term will be served under a conditional discharge.
