Recently, a Saracen father-son duo engaged in the spree killing of 15 unarmed Jews at Australia’s Bondi Beach. The Australian government’s solution in reaction to the atrocity? More gun control!
In my interactions with our English speaking cousins (Brits, Canadians, South Africans, Australians, and New Zealanders), I’ve found the Australians to be the closest to our temperament. What do I believe is the reason for that closeness? A common frontier experience (the “Old West” and the “Outback”). On a frontier, you don’t look to some far off flagpole if a problem arises; you’re expected to handle the problem yourself.
However, our Australian cousins have long since given into the Communists within their own midst concerning rugged individualism. Their equivalent to our Democrats and RINO Republicans enacted the National Firearms Agreement in 1996 as a kneejerk reaction to a spree killing at Port Arthur in Tasmania. Millions of firearms were suddenly deemed “illegal” and harsh penalties threatened against law-abiding citizens (“Criminals,” by definition, do not follow laws.) who did not turn said firearms in for destruction. Brilliant.
Australia is lost. The lesson we must take after yet another Mohammadan killing spree (If you squint your eyes, you can almost spot a pattern; could not the remedy be remigration?) is the utter failure of so-called “gun control.” Whether it’s Bondi Beach or Uvalde, Texas time and time again we see WE are our own first responders. “Laws” on pieces of paper aren’t worth a warm bucket of spit in stopping madmen.
“But they used a straight pull rifle and shotgun. A man with a pistol wouldn’t have stood a chance!” That’s ignorance talking. Though the duo used longuns, the distances at which they used those guns was well within pistol range. During outings, carry concealed on your person a compact 9mm service pistol of standard capacity (15 or more rounds); at least one spare magazine of equal or larger capacity; and a lightweight snub-nosed .38 revolver backup carried somewhere on the opposite side of your body. Practice (both daily dry-fire and as often as practical live-fire) until you can on-demand hit a basketball-sized target to 25 yards and the side of a five gallon bucket at 50 yards. A refrigerator door-sized target is not a difficult shot out to 100 yards in a moderately practiced hand.
“This sounds like an awful lot of work, Morris.” It’s how the politicians are protected. Our families are at least as important in protecting as are those useless bureaucrat hacks, aren’t they? Never forget: We’re not our servile English speaking cousins.
