A parking lot collision at a Jackson County business led to the arrest of a Morehead man after deputies determined he was allegedly driving on a suspended license in an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.
Jackson County Sheriff Daniel Isaacs reported that Deputy Chris Baldwin responded at approximately 7:46 p.m. on Aug. 5 to a collision at Louie's Tobacco, approximately six miles south of McKee.
After speaking with those involved and investigating the collision, Deputy Baldwin determined James Wayne Gabbard, 47, of Morehead, was allegedly operating the vehicle while his license was suspended. The vehicle was also found to be uninsured and not properly registered, according to the sheriff's report.
Gabbard was taken into custody without further incident and charged with Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operator's License, No Operator's License, License to Be in Possession, Failure to Produce Insurance Card, Failure of Non-Owner/Operator to Maintain Required Insurance, No or Expired Registration Plates, No or Expired Kentucky Registration Receipt, and Improper Display of Registration Plates.
According to Jackson County Detention Center records, Gabbard was lodged in the facility following his arrest. Jail records list a $250 cash bond on the suspended or revoked license charge.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
As in all cases at this stage of adjudication, the charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until provided due process and proven guilty in a court of law.
