Traffic Stop Leads to DUI Arrest and Seizure of Narcotics

Jackson County Sheriff Daniel Isaacs reported that on Wednesday, January 14th, 2025, at approximately 11:58 a.m., Jackson County Deputy Sheriff Christian Collins arrested Melissa Flannery, 41, of McKee, KY.

The arrest occurred along US 421 South, approximately 7 miles north of McKee, after Deputy Collins observed hazardous equipment violations on account of a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted.

Throughout the course of the traffic stop, Deputy Collins made contact with the operator of the vehicle, Melissa Flannery, and readily detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from her vehicle in addition to observing signs of impairment.

Standardized Field Sobriety Test’s were performed where Flannery was determined to be impaired, and subsequently placed under arrest.

A search incident to arrest yielded the seizure of a clear glass pipe with dark residue consistent with Methamphetamine usage, two plastic baggies containing a green leafy substance consistent with Marijuana, a plastic baggie containing approximately twenty (20) Gabapentin tablets, another Gabapentin, and a Suboxone strip concealed within Flannery’s wallet.
Remnants of several marijuana joints were also discovered in Flannery’s vehicle.

Melissa Flannery was transported to and lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center on the charges of: Improper Equipment, Careless Driving, Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Substances, Drug Paraphernalia (buy/possess), Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, and Prescription Controlled Substance Not In Proper Container.

Deputy Collins was assisted at the scene by Sheriff Daniel Isaacs.
