JCHS Bass Fishing Team Win Back-to-Back Regional
Jackson County Bass Fishing Team competed in the KHSAA Region 4 Tournament held on Herrington Lake on April 26, 2025.
Last year, the team placed 2nd overall in the region and Caden Ayers and Kolben Vickers also placed 2nd. The Generals were looking to defend their title this year, entering 5 boats (4 co-ed and one all-female) into the tournament.
Lake levels were up, and water conditions were messy with many logs and dark colors in places, but 4 out of 5 boats were able to weigh in fish during the event.
Caden Ayers and Kolben Vickers weighed in the heaviest team bag, defending their Region 4 title, making it the second year in a row. Jacob Gray and Thomas Powell were able to weigh in a five-fish limit, placing 3rd in the tournament.
Serenity Bingham and Lillie Davison weighed in 2 Kentucky bass placing 5th in the female division. All three of these boats qualified for the KHSAA State Tournament May 9-10, on Lake Cumberland. Jayden and Josiah Etherton were also weighing in one large mouth.
Also fishing on the water that day were JCHS Bass Fishing Co-ed team Dustin Farmer and Lillie Lavalee. The fishing team is coached by Candrea Bingham.
The team would like to thank all of the boat captains this year, Shane Ayers, Terry Farmer, Brandon Gray, Louis Lakes, Delbert Adkins, and Justin Bingham. Jacob Gray and Thomas Powell will also be fishing in the SAF Team Trail fish off on the Ohio River in Maysville in a fish-off for the SAF Team trail league. Congratulations to all of the anglers and captains on a successful season, and good luck at the State Tournament this weekend!
