2026 Lady Generals Softball Season Preview

Posted

The crack of the bat and the rhythm of cleats on dirt signal the return of a new softball season, and this year’s squad is already showing signs of promise. With a mix of experienced upperclassmen and energetic newcomers, the team enters the early stretch of the season focused on building chemistry, sharpening fundamentals, and setting the tone for the months ahead.

Leadership will be a key strength, as returning players bring both skill and composure to the field. Their familiarity with the pace of varsity play has helped guide younger teammates through the transition, creating a competitive but supportive environment in practices and games alike. Early scrimmages have highlighted communication and execution in the field and a willingness to make adjustments inning by inning.

Offensively, the team is working to find consistency at the plate. There have been flashes of power and smart base running, but the emphasis remains on discipline—working counts, making solid contact, and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Defensively, the group has shown steady improvement, with pitchers finding their rhythm and the infield building confidence with each outing.

The games to date do not fully reflect the team’s potential, but the foundation being laid is clear. Coaches continue to stress growth, resilience, and attention to detail, knowing that early-season challenges often shape late-season success. The coaching staff works diligently on positivity and reinforces our motto “God, Family and Softball”.

As the schedule picks up, this team will look to turn progress into results. With determination, teamwork, and a focus on continuous improvement, they are poised to make their mark as the season unfolds.

This year's Lady Generals are, as seen in the picture (L-R), Kylee Martin, Aubrey Estridge, Sofia Martinez, Ella-Grace Sallee, Tilly Truett, Amber Smith, Macy Wathen, Lexi Brockman, Baylee Berry, Aubrey McCowan, Kylie Moore & Sadie Seals.

The Lady Generals' record is currently 2 wins & 1 Loss. The loss was against Madison Southern, and as stated above, communication and execution are paramount to our success, and due to our lack of both, we fell short. Sometimes you learn great lessons from a loss, and we are learning that we must compete, communicate and execute in order to win games.

This team worked hard and put in the hours through the winter and our success at hitting is showing. Congratulations to Tilly Truett on 2 homeruns and to Kylie Moore on 1 homerun.
