Posted

The Jackson County Generals concluded their 2026 cross country season Saturday, October 31, at the KHSAA State Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park.

The Generals boys finished 18th in the state, led by senior Malachi Shannon, who ran a season-best 17:10. Shannon capped off a remarkable high school career, leaving the program as its 5K school record holder and the most accomplished boys' distance runner in Jackson County cross country history, setting a standard for future Generals to chase.

Junior Jadyn Agee followed in 17:58, with Noah Saylor (19:31), Hunter Peters (19:43), Avery Stewart (19:53), Jaxon Turner (21:43), and Jace Isaacs (22:52) completing the boys' lineup.
Senior Brooklyn Hammonds led the girls with a season-best 23:22 in her final high school cross country race. Eighth-grader Alyssa Welch (24:30), seventh-grader Aleigha Ison (24:43), and freshman Amaya Petty (29:48) each recorded personal records.

Freshman Olivia Moore finished in 24:33, followed by sophomore Mackenzie Jackson in 32:08. Seventh-grader Heidi Brumback was unable to finish due to injury.

The state appearance capped a successful season that saw the boys capture two invitational championships and finish regional runner-up, while the girls earned their place among Kentucky's state championship qualifiers.

With both teams reaching state and a strong group of young runners returning, the Generals have plenty to build on heading into 2027.
