It is being reported that authorities have identified a Berea murder suspect as 51-year-old Kevin Berry in the death of his mother 77-year-old Margie Berry.
It has been reported that the incident occurred on Leslie Drive just after midnight on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
An intensive manhunt ensued for Berry. According to Berea aouthorities an ATL (attempt to locate) was issued, and Berry was spotted and pursued through Whitley County and Williamsburg toward Jellico this morning where the pursuit ended.
Berry wrecked his vehicle. Officials say they attempted to talk the suspect out of the car and peacefully surrender. However, once officers approached the car, they found Berry deceased. He took his own life.
Kevin Berry is a former law enforcement officer previously working for the McKee Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff's Department, and as recently as 2020, the Laurel County Sheriff's Department as a captain.
