The Jackson County Generals Track & Field team delivered a historic performance at the Kentucky Indoor State Championships in Louisville, highlighted by a school record, personal bests, and the best relay finishes in program history.
The Boys 4×800 Relay team of Jake Collett, Jake Jones, Jadyn Agee, and Malachi Shannon entered the meet seeded ninth but surged to an incredible performance to finish State Runner-Up, the highest finish in program history.
The Boys 4×400 Relay team of Jake Collett, Jake Jones, Gavin Nelasco, and Hunter Peters also made history, setting a new Jackson County school record while earning the best 4×400 finish the program has ever recorded.
Head Coach Dean Rader said the relay performances exceeded even the team’s internal expectations.
“Going in, we were just hoping to break 4:00 in the 4×4 and ended up running 3:52,” Coach Rader said. “In the 4×8 we were really just hoping to make the podium because we were on the outside looking in based on the seed times. I knew we were a little faster than what we ran at Mason , but this stage brought something out of us. It was truly an epic performance for our guys.”
Individually, Jackson County athletes also delivered strong performances. Lillie Davidson recorded a personal best in the Girls 3200m, while Jadyn Agee ran a personal record in the Boys 3200m, continuing the team’s strong showing against top statewide competition.
“I’m incredibly proud of Lillie and Jadyn,” the coach added. “It’s always special to see athletes’ hard work pay off with personal bests on a big stage.”
Reflecting on the day, Coach Rader said the team’s effort stood out even among years of experience.
“The effort our athletes gave was truly special. I’ve been doing this a while, and I’m telling you — this was something to see. Jackson County should be very proud of these kids.”
The Generals’ performances capped an outstanding day in Louisville and provide strong momentum as the team now turns its focus toward the upcoming outdoor season.
