The Jackson County Middle School eighth-grade Lady Generals captured their fourth straight All “A” Conference championship with a 51-27 win over Harlan Independent last Tuesday night.
The Lady Generals earned a ticket to the finals with a 48-18 victory over Barbourville in the opening round of the two-day tournament at Jackson County High School. The Lady Generals haven’t lost a conference game in more than three years.
The team is coached by Kelvin and Melony Bingham.
“These girls are simply amazing,” Jackson County assistant coach Melony Bingham said. “They are such hard-working girls and they do everything you ask them to do. We are certain that the girls will have many more accomplishments both on and off the court in the future. It’s a very special group and we have been very blessed to be a part of their lives for the past three years.”
As sixth-graders, the Lady Generals won the Cecil Green Invitational in Berea and were runner-up the following season as members of the seventh-grade squad. They reached the Hyper Hoops Final Four in 6th and 7th grade and have won the Conference Tournaments for four years.
The Lady Generals captured the Kentucky State Championship in 2025.
