Judge's Report

Posted

By the time you receive this, the decision will have been made as to who the Judge Executive will be for the next four years in Jackson County. As I write this message, I have no way to know what the future holds, although I believe I know Who Holds The Future. There are many things that I plan for in the future, but there are only a few issues that I can address today, so here they are:

1. If you made a decision to vote, regardless who you voted for, I personally want to thank you for taking the time to vote. Your action reflects highly upon you, because you truly want to have a role in our government. Many people are apathetic about their role in government. They do not believe their vote matters, but it does! Therefore, I want to thank you for being a good citizen and casting your vote.

2. If I am fortunate and blessed to win for County Judge Executive, in the future I will treat everyone fairly and impartially, regardless who they voted for. As it is today, everyone will be treated with respect and dignity. The race will be in the past and I intend to work hard to make our county better in the future. Therefore, I will do my best to forget the old things and press forward to the high calling that lies ahead.

3. If I do not win this race, I will be sad for a time, just as anyone else who does not prevail in a political race, however, I have prayed and prepared myself to move forward. I intend to finish this term of office doing the work at the Judge Executive office to the best of my ability and will leave the office in the best condition possible. I refuse to be a bitter loser, if I do not win this race and I promise to be gracious and humble if I am fortunate to win.

4. I encourage all the citizens of Jackson County to rally around the new administration and to work with the Fiscal Court, not against it, to take our county to a higher level as we move forward. Think clearly and open your minds to the possibilities that lay ahead. I still believe this is a great place to live. I love the people in our county and promise to do my best to help our county grow and prosper in the future.

5. Finally, I want to thank my wife and my family for enduring all the stress, the negative and painful comments, and the time I take away from my family to do this job. They are all the love of my life and I appreciate their support.

“The credit belongs to those who are actually in the arena, who strives valiantly; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and who spend themselves in a worthy cause; who errs and comes up short; who if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat”. Theodore Roosevelt

Thank you and best wishes,

Paul Hays
