Roger Keith Sandlin, age 66, of McKee, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Keith dedicated 32 years of his career to Pike Electric and REMC in Martinsville, Indiana, before retiring. A man of many interests, he enjoyed cooking, working on cars, collecting antiques and cast iron, learning about history, and, most recently, porch sitting. He never passed up an opportunity for a good conversation, especially when it involved sharing stories or discussing something that interested him. Known for his strong will and stubborn determination, Keith faced life's challenges on his own terms, a quality that remained evident throughout his battle with cancer.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Sandlin and Patricia "Patsy" Sandlin, a sister, Terry Sandlin, and a son, Derrick Keith Sandlin.
He is survived by his wife, Angel King Sandlin; his children, Dylan Sandlin (Casie Fortenberry), Keisha Sandlin (Craig Fields), Bradley Sandlin (Brittany), and Tiffany Stivers (Clint); and his beloved grandchildren, Oswald Keith Sandlin, Charlie and Kiana Sandlin, Gillian, Abram, Jonah, and Tyler Sandlin, and Edith Stivers.
He is also survived by his brothers, Brian Sandlin and Marty Sandlin (Cheryl); his longtime friend, Gary Smith; and numerous extended family members and friends, including many cherished friends from his years at REMC.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29 beginning at 6 P.M. at Lakes Funeral Home, 1181 Main Street, McKee, Kentucky. A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday October 30, 2026, with Bro. David Reed presiding.
Pallbearers are Clint Stivers, Bradley Sandlin, Jonah Sandlin, Tyler Sandlin, Craig Fields, Dylan Sandlin and Marty Sandlin. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Sandlin and Gary Smith.
Keith will be remembered for his love of family, his gift for conversation, his curiosity about the world, and the determination with which he lived his life. Though he will be deeply missed, the stories he shared and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
